Virtual Console Previews/Reviews – Week of April 16th

Wii Virtual Console:

Glass Joe, you were so misunderstood.

Punch Out!! (NES): Not Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, but I actually liked this one better anyway. Quite possibly my favorite NES game of all time. At 500 points, this is a complete no-brainer. Go get this … now. Japan has had this on the VC for about a month and a half now, I wonder what the hold up was? We have it now so I guess it doesn’t matter.

Virtua Fighter 2 (Sega Genesis): The reason I purchased the infamous 32X for the Genesis was for Virtua Fighter 3D and it was well worth the money (at the time). This, sadly, is not the 32X version but the pseudo-3D version for the Genesis. Still fun, but I don’t know if I’d recommend it.
Bonk’s Revenge (TurboGrafix): Another Bonk title … whoopidy-doo! I don’t think I need to say anything else here.

XBox Live Arcade:
In a surprise move, Live Arcade has two releases this week. What a deal! Oh wait, the games are kind of lame.

Gyruss: Yet another in the long line of sub-par 3D space shooters. With Galaga now on the Wii Virtual Console, there’s no need to bore yourself with this weak representation of a great genre.

What the hell are you aiming at?

3D Ultra MiniGolf Adventures: It looks like it could be ok. I like minigolf games, but this kind of looks like characters from Second Life thrown into Hot Shots Golf. I’ll have to get the demo to see. No Live support is not helping matters any.
